KPC3427-3434: Promotional materials for series

General Philatelic News

(News from 우정사업본부 / KoreaPost) KoreaPost has released promotional materials for the recent stamp issue titled “Science and Technology that Lead Korea” (KPC3427-3434). These materials were published on both the KoreaPost Facebook page as well as the Kstamp blog. The materials are available in Korean only.

The materials show the message from the stamps series in more detail. One of the most compelling facts mentioned is in the)second graphic (with the map of South Korea). The average income of a South Korean in 1953, at the end of the Korean War, was 67 dollar. Koreans were amongst the poorest people in the world, as late as 1961 the average Ethiopian or Ugandan was richer than the average South Korean. After the miracle on the Han of the 1970s and beyond that started to turn around. In 2018 the average South Korean had an income of $31.349!

Other graphics show important work being done in Korea today. But it is still that one fact that stands out: in just one generation they went from being amongst the poorest people in the world to being amongst the richest!

The whole stamps series can be bought directly from KoreaPost at the KoreaPost website in both Korean and English.
