In 1952, the Korean War was still raging on, causing much upheaval and uncertainty in South Korea. The year was marked by intense fighting and continued efforts by the United Nations to push back against the invading North Korean forces.

Despite the ongoing conflict, the everyday lives of South Koreans had to go on. One of the biggest challenges faced by the population was the scarcity of basic necessities, such as food and clothing. The war had disrupted supply chains and caused inflation, making it difficult for people to make ends meet.
