2024 marks the 400th anniversary of the issuance and use of revenue stamps globally. Invented in the Netherlands in 1623, revenue stamps were first used in the province of Holland in 1624. Since then, various forms and types of revenue stamps and excise stamps have been used by governments and quasi-governmental agencies worldwide, including Korea.
