The May 2026 issue of *Woopyo* is a notably rich one for collectors who care less about flashy new issues alone and more about how stamps, postal systems, and postal artifacts fit into Korean history. It opens with Song Il-ho (송일호)’s opinion piece, “Hoping for Many Exhibits at the Korea Stamp Exhibition” (대한민국우표전시회에 많은 우취작품이 출품되길 바라며), then moves through “New Stamps and Commemorative Postmarks” (새로 나오는 우표·우편날짜도장) and “Philatelic News” (우취 NEWS), where readers get both official postal announcements and society news. The issue notes the new *Princess Catch! Teenieping* stamp set, a proposed commemorative for e-sports player Faker, and reports that the *Korean Specialized Catalogue* won a Large Gold in the literature class at Stampex Japan 2026; it also notes renewed work on a philatelic terminology dictionary and the continued existence of the federation’s authentication committee.
The standout article in the issue is Robert (Bob) Finder’s “A Newly Discovered Cover Bearing the Unissued Christmas Seal” (미발행 크리스마스 씰이 부착된 신발견 실체), translated and reworked by Jin Hur (허진). This is exactly the kind of piece that makes a monthly journal worth reading: it is not merely descriptive, but documentary. Finder presents a previously unrecorded cover from Seoul dated 14 November 1940 bearing the unissued Korean Christmas/TB seal, and argues that it is now the earliest known dated cover with that seal. He also places the discovery squarely within the final year of Dr. Sherwood Hall’s Korean Christmas seal program, which had begun in 1932 as part of anti-tuberculosis fundraising and public health work.
