The June 2026 issue of Woopyo is a substantial and varied number, but its centre of gravity lies clearly in Korean postal history and the study of difficult transitional material. The issue opens with Ryu Sang-beom’s (류상범) opinion article, “Hoping for the Success of the 2026 Korea Stamp Exhibition” (2026 대한민국우표전시회의 성공을 바라며), a timely reflection on exhibition culture after PhilaKorea 2025 and before the 2026 Korea Stamp Exhibition at Dongdaemun Design Plaza. Ryu points to the decline in the number of exhibits and frames since the years after PhilaKorea 2014, argues for the revival of structured philatelic training, and even suggests reconsidering the role of regional exhibitions in favour of a stronger national exhibition circuit.
The editorial office (편집실) follows with “New Stamp Issues and Postal Date Stamps” (새로 나오는 우표·우편날짜도장), covering the centenary stamp for the June 10 Manse Movement, the much more contemporary BLACKPINK issue and commemorative packet, and recent tourist postmarks. The same front section also includes design notes for stamps honouring Rosetta Sherwood Hall and Margaret Jane Edmunds Harrison for their contribution to women’s medical care in Korea, as well as the popular-culture issue for Princess Catch! Teenieping. The news section, “Philatelic News” (우취 NEWS), reports on the 64th 2026 Gaya Culture Festival stamp exhibition in Gimhae, where local antiquities and Gaya themes were interpreted through personalised stamps and postal covers, and on Namulsan Post Office’s planned personalised stamp and exhibition for the 5th Jangsaengpo Hydrangea Festival.
