In 1998 the Korean National Tuberculosis Association (KNTA)’s Christmas and New Year/TB seal program followed the same format as used in 1997: two different small sheets of ten seals, in a horizontal souvenir sheet format. These 1998 seals represent what the KNTA calls the “Character Sports Series”. Perhaps some of our readers can tell us about these cartoon characters and how they are used in South Korea. Since each of these two small sheets of the 1998 seals has characters playing different sports, there are a total of 20 different images.
The 2022 Korea Postage Stamp Catalogue (KPSC) gives the catalogue numbers for the 1998 seals as TCS 408-417 and TCS 418-427, respectively , for the two sheets of ten seals. The KPSC values each of the two small sheets at 8,000 won (US$5.80). The individual 1998 seals were sold by the KNTA for 170 won ($0.12), an increase of 20 won over 1997.
