In this article the story of the Chollima pictured on North Korea stamps continues through the years of 1980 through 1989. During this period of 1980 through 1989 there were twenty three North Korea stamps issued portraying the Chollima somewhere in the design.

Fig 1. In 1980, North Korea issued at set of five stamps, Scott 1938-1942 and one souvenir sheet, Scott 1943, that commemorated the London 1980 International Stamps Exibition. Within the set of five stamps, the Chollima appeared on three of the stamps, the 20 ch stamp (upper left corn), the 30 ch stamp (in the middle of the stamp) and the 50 ch stamp (upper left background). On the souveir sheet the Chollima appears on the middle 30 ch stamp (upper left corner).

My first North Korean stamp was stamp with Chollima statue from the 1961 set commemorating the 4th Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea.
There are two noteworthy items in this article.
1) 1984 S/S “Centenary of UT-GMT.” There is also a photo of this S/S at the beginning of this article.
The imperforated variant of this S/S is very rare, and is almost never found on the market. This is because only 200 copies were printed. It was printed more than 50 years ago, and it is unknown how many these rare S/S remain today.
On the other hand, some imperforated varieties of North Korean stamps, printed in the 2000s in quantity of 500 copies, are also impossible to find now!
That’s why this is an ultra-rare item, and very few collectors can boast of owning this imperf. S/S.
2) 1986 “40th anniversary of the issue of the First Postage stamps of the DPRK”
The 50 chon stamp features two 20 jon stamps – “Red Rose” and an imperforated reprint beneath the portrait of Kim Il-sung. But these aren’t the first stamps issued by North Korea! The first stamp was very rare 20 jon “Green Rose”.
However, the artist from the Korea Stamp Corporation did not draw this stamp (the design of the original green stamp differs from reprint). And I am assume that this postage stamp possible isn’t available in North Korea.
This first North Korean green stamp is the “Holy Grail” for all philatelists who collect Korean stamps!
