Two unlisted 2012 DPRK 3D stamps showing pandas. Cute as the pandas may have looked, these stamps were never officially published by the KSC. #Stamps #Philately #우표취미 #우표

Unlisted 2012 DPRK stamp sheet, 120 won value. Unfortunately scanners do not pick up 3D effects well, the effect is greatly diminished. It should however give an idea about these 3D stamps and why they were in the end not published by the KSC. #Stamps #Philately #우표취미 #우표
Whatever you think with regards to war, war doesn't come cheap and someone somewhere has to pay for it. Here is an example of that: wartime surcharges from South Korea, issued during the Korean War (in 1951). #Stamps #Philately #우표취미 #우표

There is a stamp there. Not a postage stamp, but a revenue stamp, to pay taxes. It is visible underneath a coin operated telephone! Produced in 1971, this phone took 10 won coins. With money comes taxes... #Stamps #Philately #우표취미 #우표 #수입증지

@GaryLoew But, given your philatelic background: do you know of other societies who created their own seals in recent years?
@GaryLoew The KSS seals are for sale at the KSS Delcampe store: Quantaties are limited, especially of the printer's sheets! #Stamps #Philately #우표취미 #우표

Are there any other philatelic societies who have (recently) created their own seals? It used to be quite common. Here are our 2021 seal designs. #Stamps #Philately #우표취미 #우표
No, this is not a stamp. And no, it is not a meter mark either. It is completely non-philatelic: it is South Korean military money or "scrib". But it sure looks a lot like meter franking... #Stamps #Philately #우표취미 #우표
Politics through stamps, or to be more precise, through meter marks. South Korean meter slogan showing map of “East Sea” with the Dokdo Islands in the circle on the map. #Stamps #Philately #우표취미 #우표
Even though Mao was deleted from the map of Pyongyang (see tweet 5 Feb.), the Chinese fighting in the Korean War were commemorated by the KSC in 2000, 50 years after they entered the war. #Stamps #Philately #우표취미 #우표
One of the more expensive items in (South) Korean philatelic history, a presentation sheet for the 10 won value in the 1948 "promulgation of the constitution" set. Catalogue value: 15.000.000 won. #Stamps #Philately #우표취미 #우표
@GaryLoew Good point, don't know either. I did a search for Dong Sung Rhee. Turns out he was a serious philatelist who by 1988 had become official FIP judge during Olymphilex '88 in Seoul.
@GaryLoew In NL FDCs were collected with flap open. Also, on the front it states DRUKWERK / PRINTED MATTER, a significantly cheaper postal rate but the flap had to remain open and it meant a slower service. The registration was probably to make sure it would arrive. #Stamps #Philately
@GaryLoew Only a Korean cancellation upon arrival, nothing else unfortunately. Since the address was a PO Box in Seoul at the Central Post Office, it's likely the cover was "delivered" on that same day.
